The Localities

Located south of Manokwairi, this mountainous mainland locality thrives in a dense, mountainous rainforest that is still "wild" and renowned for harboring numerous unique plant and animal species

As their name suggests Aru Green Tree Pythons come from the Aru Islands. A group of around 95 low lying islands located in the Arafura Sea southwest of mainland New Guinea and north of Australia.

Biak Green Tree Pythons are found on Biak Island, a small island located in Cenderawasih Bay near the northern coast of Papua, an Indonesian province, and is just northwest of New Guinea.

Cyclops Green Tree Pythons are present in the plains and at medium altitude, in the northern and coastal zone. An interesting feature is that individuals from this locality can be born either yellow or red.

Jayapura locality green tree python originate from the area surrounding the coastal city of Jayapura, on the north eastern coast of Papua, Indonesia, and extend out to neighboring regions of Lereh, Cyclops Mountain, and Arso.

Kofiau Island is located in between the north Moluccan island of Halmahera and the Bird’s Head (Volgekop) Peninsula of West Papua. It sits in the middle the Raja Ampat archipelago which encompasses more than 9.8 million acres of land and sea.

The village of Lereh is located within the center of the Kaureh District in the South-central portion of the Jayapura Regency. It sits within the North-east portion of Papua, Indonesia, with the Cycloops Mountain Range just to the North/North-east and the Jayawijaya Mountain Range to the South/South-west.

Manokwari is a city in Indonesia and since 2003 The capital of the province of West Papua is located at the Western end of New Guinea, east of Sarong and the Vogelkop Peninsula, and west of the Biak island. Manokwari chondros from this western mainland area are found in the Sorong group.

A somewhat unusual island locality Morelia Azurea Azurea - Padaido, which often goes unnoticed or is little known in captivity. It is too often confused with the Biak, although it does not inhabit the same biotope or the same island...

Green Tree Pythons from the Vogelkop Peninsula and Raja Ampat regions in western Indonesian New Guinea are commonly referred to as ‘Sorong type’ after the largest city in the area.

Wamena is the capital town of the Jayawijaya Regency of Indonesia. It is the largest town in Indonesian Papua’s highlands, in the Baliem Valley and had a population of 31,724 at the 2010 Census.
